VEC’s Rex Ferry selected to judge awards at national NECA convention

VEC, Inc.’s Owner and CEO Rex Ferry has been to dozens of NECA national conventions throughout his career, but this year he has some homework to do before the show. VEC is a NECA-IBEW Electricians member contractor.

Ferry, who served as president of NECA – the National Electrical Contractors Association – from 2009 to 2011, was selected to be part of a three-judge panel for the NECA 2013 Showstoppers award. Showstoppers is an annual competition sponsored by Electrical Contractors magazine to determine the best new products for electrical contractors each year.

VEC’s Rex Ferry, former NECA president, will represent Youngstown and Warren NECA-IBEW Electricians as a judge of an awards competition at the NECA 2013 convention.

Entries range from hand tools to heavy equipment and software-based technologies. In total, Ferry will evaluate nearly 125 products and work with his fellow judges to select 20 to win individual Showstopper awards. This year is believed to be the first to include representation from the Mahoning Valley on the judges’ panel.

“It truly is an honor to be recognized as having the credibility to evaluate products on behalf of the electrical contracting industry,” Ferry said. “It’s a national platform, and I’m proud to represent VEC, the Mahoning Valley NECA contractors and our strong Valley workforce.”

VEC is based in Girard, Ohio, and is the parent company of Evets Electric, one of the largest specialty electrical contractors in the country focusing on the oil and gas industry.
