IBEW Local 64’s Satterlee nominated for 25 Under 35 award

Just into his 30s, Scott Satterlee is already making a name for himself.

It was recently announced that the IBEW Local 64 (Youngstown) business manager has been nominated for the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals 25 Under 35 award.

“It was unexpected, but I’m grateful to be nominated,” Satterlee said.

He was nominated by Matt Wilson, who works for Platz Realty and sits on the board for MVYP.

In his suggestion, Wilson noted Satterlee’s involvement with the Workforce Development Board, Mahoning County Tax Incentive Review Committee, and position as treasurer of the Tri-State Business Managers Association.

Satterlee has also served with the United Way Community Service for Labor.

Working next to Satterlee, Cody Hilliard, president and membership development coordinator, has watched the new business manager settle into his leadership role.

Scott Satterlee, business manager of Local 64, left, and Cody Hilliard, president and membership development coordinator, have known each other for nine years, while working closely over the last several months as they took on new roles in the union.

Leading by example

“He’s the type of person who wouldn’t ask you to do anything he wouldn’t do himself,” Hilliard said. “Scott doesn’t have just one role – he has about a dozen jobs that are all wrapped up in one title.”

Hilliard has known Satterlee for nearly a decade, first working together on the construction of the Austintown racino.

Satterlee is most motivated to do right by IBEW Local 64 and its members so we can work to continue to advance in the electrical industry, Hilliard said.

Receiving word reminded Satterlee of the start of his career when he was an electrician nine years ago.

“When I first started, I liked working with my hands and always said I didn’t want an office job, but here I am. I’ve found that the more I learn all the moving parts to the union, I enjoy helping members,” Satterlee said.

This year, Satterlee will continue to introduce resources within the Local 64 office to improve efficiencies, as well lead the development of a new website.

An awards dinner will be held April 27 honoring all the nominees.
