Electrical work is part of ongoing renovations at the Youngstown Business Incubator, and the space is getting much brighter because of MG Electric.
The offices are being given a more modern, functional design, which has required some wiring reconfiguration.
“We’ve been down here for a few weeks now,” said Rob Mistovich, foreman, MG Electric. “It’s been a steady job, which has led to other little projects on-site.”

Lighting shifts and smart controls
Most of the work is being done on the first floor of the YBI building. MG Electric is putting in new lighting circuits, outlets and other components to fit the new layout.
“There’s a lot of changes happening. We’re adding can lights and some decorative lighting, and everything is being set up on a touchpad system with different zones.”

The controls will allow the staff to manage their preferences room-by-room.
“It’s going to be nice because they’ll be able to set each zone, or even program certain lights to come on or turn off at certain times,” he said.
Upgrades are also being made to the lounge area, complete with sleek accent lighting and an open layout.
Even some original elements, like pendant lights hanging from the ceiling, will stay, but the old bulbs will be changed to LEDs.

Working around the bones of an old building
Due to the age and original structure of the building, electricians have been working around minor challenges.
“There was some demo that needed to happen. We had to reroute some circuits and refeed what was already there because a wall was taken down,” Mistovich said. “The basement was a little tricky, so there was some extra time spent there.”
MG Electric also tackled some smaller tasks on the upper floors – like adding outlets and adjustments to existing wiring.
The timeline for the full renovation isn’t set in stone, but Mistovich expects the project to wrap up in the next few weeks.
“We’re just waiting on fixtures and other items to come in. Once those are here and installed, we’ll be close to being done.”

Small touches with big impact
Along with YBI’s main building, MG Electric handled the electrical work inside the new TBB5 around the corner, which is the former Vindicator building.
That project involved lighting installation and power upgrades to support the technology-focused companies operating there.
“That work took almost a year. There was a large freight elevator installed, but we had to tear the old one out first. It caused some delays because we had to redo everything,” Mistovich said.
Being at both YBI and TBB5 allows the company to grow its footprint in downtown Youngstown and continue to build trust with area businesses and organizations.
“It’s been great because we’ve picked up a lot of work just by being here.”
