In the segment, reporter Jeremy Lydic interviews Tri-Area project manager Michael Johnston about the complicated nature of hospital projects.

“Hospital projects specifically are a lot more complicated,” Johnston says in the story. “There’s three wiring systems in a hospital as opposed to an office building or school. The need for redundancy and back-up for life safety, patient safety, etc. is the most important thing.”

Lydic mentioned other specific requirements among the electrical component of the hospital expansion project, including medical imaging devices, medical gas systems and infection risk control standards for ventilation and dust containment. The Salem project is anticipated to be completed in early 2014.

Joe Dickey Electric of North Lima is performing a similar hospital expansion project at St. Elizabeth’s Boardman campus.
