Applications are being accepted for the NECA-IBEW Electricians’ LMCC Scholarship at Youngstown State University. This scholarship is for YSU students who have an affiliation with IBEW Local 64 or a signatory electrical contractor in the Mahoning Valley.
The deadline to apply is May 1. You can apply online here. Preference is given to students pursuing degrees that benefit the electrical industry. The award amount is $1,000.
“The scholarship is our way of promoting the value of education and supporting the local electrical industry,” said Scott Satterlee, business manager, IBEW Local 64 in Youngstown.
Last Year’s Winner
Past winners have ranged from children of union electricians and employees at signatory contractors, to active employees and interns.
Last year, Alex Birtalan, a junior estimator at “Joe” Dickey Electric and third-year electrical engineering technology student at YSU, earned the scholarship.
Eligibility for LMCC Scholarship
To be eligible, applicants must live in Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana counties and have at least a 2.5 GPA.
NECA-IBEW Electricians is an association of IBEW Local 64 in Youngstown, IBEW Local 573 in Warren and signatory electrical contractors across the Mahoning Valley.
