Santon Electric commended for helping Boardman family in need

Boardman Township Trustees presented a proclamation commending work done by select, local businesses who stepped up to donate construction services for a local family that had fallen on hard times. Santon Electric was named within the commendation.

The gesture was part of the Home Builders Association’s fall project, and involved cleaning up and making necessary repairs to a home on Zander Drive in Boardman to make it current with zoning regulations.

“As a proud member of this community we were honored to be able to help a fellow resident in their time of need while improving one of our neighborhood’s assets,” said Santon Electric owner, Bud Santon.

The homeowner was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, and his son is a quadriplegic from a Marine incident, and there were numerous complaints piling up from neighbors about the condition of the home. HBA members installed a new roof, siding and landscaping, among other improvements.

Santon Electric upgraded the home to 200 amp service with a new panel, circuit breakers, grounding and related componentry. Santon’s labor and materials investment was covered by NECA-IBEW Electricians, a partnership of electrical contractors and union electricians in the Mahoning Valley.

Township Trustee Tom Costello was quoted in the Boardman Town Crier as saying “It’s just amazing to see the work that was done,” adding the businesses involved went above and beyond.
